Oh yeah, concerning the early game normal types...

The early game normal types are Rattata, Sentret, Zigzagoon and Bidoof.

Rattata's usefulness is justified by the FEAR combo; a trick used in battles where a level 1 Rattata holds a Focus Sash, and the opponent attacks the Rattata. Rattata holds on with Focus Sash at 1 HP, then uses Endeavor to bring the opponent down to 1 HP too. As the opponent closes in for the kill, Rattata pulls out a surprising Quick Attack which MURDERS the opponent. This can be done against every Pokémon except Ghost types. So, with this combo, a level 1 Rattata can MURDER a level 100 Arceus.

Zigzagoon's Pickup ability often helps very many players at the beginning of the game, and Linoone has some potential in competitive battling.

This lowers it down to Sentret vs. Bidoof. Sentret isn't ugly, thus making Bidoof the ABSOLUTE WORST of them all.
