NOOBS! Read carefully: THERE IS NO MOON!
i think somene created a rumour about the moon because in Ruby/Saphrire/Emerald there is a space center and they say you have to get 5 stars on your trainer card because...well, not many people have that. If thereis a moon in your game, your game is fake.

Is Mirage Island a hoax? Or does it actually appear?

Re: NOOBS! Read carefully: THERE IS NO MOON!
Mirage Island is true. It's found in the middle of Route 130 on Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. It can only be visited very very rarely. Here's how it works:
So every day, for different purposes including Mirage Island, a (pseudo)-random number is generated. This number ranges from 0 to 65535. Noticed something? About 65535? That's the highest Trainer ID number that one could get. Anything else?
(do not read if you don't want to read technical stuff)
So Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald are built on the GameBoy Advance system. This uses a 16-bit system (meaning 216, two to the power of sixteen). Now, 216 is 65536. Then why 65535? It's because 65535 is the highest number the 16-bit system can go to. 65536 is too high. The number would roll over to 0, which would completely damage the game's system (not completely, but the numbers would fail, and that's what Pokémon is built upon).
(end of tech stuff)
Mirage Island is inhabited by Wynauts at level 5 to 50. There's also a Liechi Berry Plant on the island, which are the best Pokéblock berries. They can yield Gold Pokéblocks

Re: NOOBS! Read carefully: THERE IS NO MOON!
Sorry, I missed out a bit. My bad
Now, remember the Random Number Generator bit with 0 to 65535? So, every Pokémon has this... data assigned to it called the Personality Value.
The Personality Value is a random number from 0 to 65535 (yes.)
It is a very useful number, used by the game to choose the Pokémon's nature, the gender, the ability, the Shiny value, the Unown form, Spinda's spots and Wurmple's evolution. (SHINY SHINY SHINY)
Now, if any of your Pokémon has a personality value that matches the random number of the day, you can visit Mirage Island! for that day...
However, this Pokémon needs to be in your party. There's also this guy in Pacifidlog (WHATEVER) Town that tells you whether he can see Mirage Island. If he can see (VERY RARE) you can visit. If not, YOU WILL DIE (yeah, yeah >_>).
